CAPTAIN HAZARD AND NAINGGOLAN FIRE BELGIUM TO SECOND ROUND
June 22, 2016
Belgium needed at least a draw against Sweden to qualify for the next round of the European Championship. But it wasn’t going to be easy, as Sweden put up a very brave fight to the end. The match was almost evenly matched, and Sweden scared Belgium with a host of missed chances.
Credit to Chelsea goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, who made a couple of wonderful saves that kept Belgium in the game, including a world-class save early in the first half.
Chelsea star man and Belgium captain, Eden Hazard was on fire all night long, with breathtaking dribbles and amazing runs. With the game winding down, Hazard opened up space with a beautiful run and found Chelsea target, Radja Nainggolan who took a wonderful shot that went into the net.
So, Belgium are through to the second round of the Euros, after defeating Sweden 1-0. They would face Hungary in the next round.
