Scotland votes NO, reject independence from United Kingdom

David Cameron has resigned as Prime Minister of Britain in an emotional speech outside 10 Downing Street.
His resignation followed a landmark referendum that saw the country voting to leave the European Union.
Mr. Cameron voice broke as he announced the cabinet would meet on Monday to draw up a time-table for his exit as leader of the world fifth largest economy.
A new prime minister is expected to be elected in October.
A majority of British voters (51.7 percent) followed the call of Pro-Leave campaigners who had described the vote as an independence from the European Union oppression and bureaucracy that has resulted in mass migration into the island country.
While England voted overwhelmingly for Brexit, Scotland and Northern Ireland backed the Remain camp.
With Over 72.2 percent voters’ turnout (last general election in the country has 66.1 percent turnout), many pro-Leave campaigners, led by leader of far-right UKIP party, Nigel Farage and former mayor of London Boris Johnson, are already seeing the referendum as a rejection of the leadership of Mr. Cameron, who campaigned vigorously for Britain to remain in the EU.
Despite a strong showing for the Pro-remain campaign in London and Scotland, majority of British cities voted to quit the EU.
Mr Cameron’s Tory party rival, Boris Johnson, who hasn’t hidden his desire to become PM is seen by many as a possible successor.
“I think the Boris Johnson momentum will be unstoppable,” Steven Fielding, a professor of political history at the University of Nottingham told the Washington Post.
“Cameron will try to find a dignified exit. But it’s not clear how long the backbenchers will give him to do that.”
Mr. Farage, who already admitted that the Pro-remain were going to win the referendum, recanted and claimed victory for the historic decision.
“We have got our country back,” he tweeted. “Thanks to all of you.”
Let June 23rd go down in history as our Independence Day,” he shouted with arms held high to his supporters.
Although Mr Farage is claiming this as a personal victory, many political analysts see the possibility of his anti-immigration far-right party occupying No 10 Downing Street as far-fetched.
Gisela Stuart, Vote leave campaigner and Labour MP, addressed Manchester Town Hall this morning.
She says, “We have just taken control. 33 million people went to the ballot box and made a democratic decision. They reflected on our 40 year history and by a majority they have decided to leave.
“I think that is democracy at work.”
Pound crashes to three-decade low
The news of the Britain exit from the EU caused immediate backlash to the country’s economy as the sterling crashed to 9 per cent against the dollar – its lowest value since 1985.
Financial analysts also fear more debilitating consequences of the decision on the world’s fifth largest economy in the coming days.
“People will be waking up this morning to turmoil in the markets and the pound crashing, and fearing the emergency budget the Chancellor threatened to hike their taxes and cut public services, said shadow chancellor, John McDonnell.
“The Government must now take steps to stabilise the economy, and to protect jobs, pensions and wages. Labour will not allow any instability to be paid for by the working people of this country,” he added.

10 THINGS LADIES DO WHEN THEY VISIT A GUY THEY DONT WANT TO SLEEP WITH, SOMTO MONANU

There is a reaction to every action; most ladies are naturally cautious and it would be a lie to think most of them do not think or assume men would want to sleep with them the very first time they visit them.

As a result of this, women also devise methods that would protect them as much as possible so the guys would not sleep with them on the first date. Having s*x may be inevitable in that relationship at the long run, but women are able to prolong the abstinence for as long as possible when they do take certain steps.

Find below some of the things ladies do when they do not want a guy to sleep with them anytime they go visit them:

10. Keeping the door opened

Ladies sometimes are on the defensive side and ask men to open the door to their rooms so everyone could see what is happening in the room.

To an extent, ladies feel comfortable this way as they know it is near impossible for the guys to attempt being funny or try to have sex with them with the door wide opened.

9. Wearing tight clothes

Another thing ladies do when they go visit men in their houses is to wear tight clothes that have restrictions. It would be pretty difficult getting them out of the cloth and it would give them enough time to allow sanity creep back in peradventure they got carried away.

8. Red flag shows up

Ladies know that men do not like hearing the fact that the red flag is on. Most men would be irritated seeing the blood bank of the girls when they want to sleep with them.

It is a natural turn off for men so ladies use it as a weapon and say they are on. Some even go on to wear pads just to prove it is real.

7. They would have a friend with them

Ladies do not like visiting men for the first time alone. They would rather go with one or two friends that would help them break the tension that could be around the place.

Having one or two other girls in the room apart from the main girl visiting would spoil the show for the men. Ladies can be sure nothing would happen then.

6. They avoid sitting on the bed

Many ladies avoid sitting on the bed when they visit men as they feel they are falling into a trap. The bed makes them more cautious and to avoid being tempted or lured into doing something they do not want to do at that moment, they would rather sit on the chair.

5. They receive calls at intervals

When ladies feel like they have stayed long enough in a place, they start to receive calls that would make the guys feel they need to be on their way. Some even become apologetic on the phone to make the guy feel they have to go somewhere immediately.

In some cases, girls put their friends up to this and make them call them at intervals just to prevent the guy from launching his sex idea on them.

4. They focus on something

Another thing ladies do when visiting guys in their houses is to concentrate on doing a particular thing. Some place all their attention on books while some watch movies and do not give the guys the time to want to get personal with them.

3. List of house chores

Ladies avoid having sex with men they visit by coming up with the excuse of leaving for their own house. Usually, the guy would try to persuade them and they would come up with the annoying list of things they need to do at home before their parents or guardians get back.

2. Stories that touch the heart

Sometimes, ladies cook up all sorts of stories that would make men pity them; they talk about how they have suffered one or two forms of abuse in their previous relationships.  They act traumatized and this would naturally throw the men off balance.

It would after all be inappropriate for the guys to want to try anything funny after they have heard their heart touching tales.

1. They act edgy

Sometimes, ladies deliberately put up an edgy front when they visit men in their houses. They act uncomfortable and would be cold towards the guy till th

HOW MY MOTHER SPENDS HER NIGHTS

My mother spends her nights
watching as darkness swallows
the remaining light in the sky.
She spends her nights unveiling
the scars that stretch like wind
on her skin, the anger that balloons
in her heart, and the voice of my
father that aches her ears.
My mother spends her nights in
an empty room, talking about my
father’s life that cages her’s:
my father’s name becoming
a mantra in the mouth
of every woman, my father’s face
becoming a nightmare whenever
he returns home with his pockets
stuffed with used condoms, with
his jacket reeking of alcohol and smoke
of cigarettes.
My mother spends her nights
trying to open her heart with
another man’s fingers, trying
to see her name etched on the
brow of someone else. My mother
spends her nights dressing her aged
body with cologne, waiting for a man
to say there will be time to fall in love
again and again.
Rasaq Malik Gbolahan: “I started writing poems as an undergraduate at the University of Ibadan. I would go to bookshops to fish poetry collections and devour them. I would go out at night to watch the moon and recount how it moves. Later, I started writing about my country—Nigeria—where problems ranging from political instability and unrest plague everywhere. I also wrote about my life. I believe poetry has a way of exhuming our thoughts and presenting them to the world. It has a way of creating a world where every reader finds solace. It has a way of transforming us into what probes the world we live in as time ticks. It breaks and stitches us. It immortalises us.”

Ava Roberts Becomes Youngest Female Black Doctor At Only 23!

June 23, 2016

Article
Ava Roberts (23) just became the youngest African-American female doctor in the world! While news of this accomplishment has unfortunately been minimal, French site Pelea reports that after a gifted childhood, Roberts quickly excelled through medical school and became a force to be reckoned with.

The first black doctor in history was James McCune Smith, who received his medical degree in 1837 and was the first African-American to own and operate a pharmacy in the United States. In 1864, Rebecca Lee Crumpler was the first African-American woman to receive a medical degree. It’s about time another record is broken!

RELIGIOUS CRISIS IN NIGERIA: A RETROSPECT, WAY FORWARD & MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES BY KOSOKO OYEYEMI, POL SCIENCE GRAD

RELIGIOUS CRISIS IN NIGERIA: A RETROSPECT, WAY FORWARD & MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES BY KOSOKO OYEYEMI, POL SCIENCE GRAD.
JUNE 16, 2016.

During my days at Government Senior College Victoria island… My preferred sitting partner was Afolabi Samilola, a Christian that grew up in one of the Pentecostal churches, He had strong faith in Christ and Christianity. In perspective he was one of the very few that was devoted to the true tenets of Christ. However, As religious as Afolabi was he didn’t  for once put his religion ahead of our friendship, he never ditched me for fellowships, I remember vividly the way he would make perfect sure I didn’t  break my fast in school at the end through him I learnt some bible verses and  I developed myself, thanks Afolabi.

I grew up on the Island, in a very small but diverse street, one of the things I fancied annually while growing up was having to wake up to the smell of Christmas Jollof rice cooked by my lovely Christian neighbour’s lool, if you miss that  Jollof rice I wonder how you won’t miss heaven, just kidding! My Mum also reciprocated the goodwill Christmas Jollof rice with Salah meat one good turn kuku deserves another, this was how I was built the love of one’s neighbour that transcended all religions.

I made it to the University of Lagos and I met a pool of Christian friends in fact most of the peeps I call brothers today are Christians; Timilehin Akegbejo a redeemer helped me  shape my knowledge in International Relations, the way he explained any course I didn’t find interesting to me would make you think he listened to Christ when he preached about the good Samaritan in the Bible. Tobi Adeyoyin was my president during my best days in charge of any administration till date  he looked beyond religion and prejudice he was only about getting the job done and because of him, I learnt effectiveness and efficiency he’s a Christian too though with Buddhist colouration. Jabita Tosin was by miles my closest friend we shared a lot of memories but in all of it I can’t recollect us fighting over who’s a Christian or a Muslim in fact I followed him to church during exam prayers and for every time I followed him my dinners were assured loll, Samuel was Cele in nature and character, the coolest guy I ever met, I couldn’t make it to his fellowship but brothers did and they had a fun filled day. John Adeboye was a jack of all trade when he cooks you will doubt the popular narrative of ‘people marry because of food’, for if food was the reason I am to get married Johnny is the person I will marry, he was also the captain of my class team and he looked out for everyone irrespective of religion, Tobi Kale and Rasheed, shared the same room for 2 years, I never for once    heard them argue about religion. Arnold Emuze, cool Edo guy and a devout catholic and about the only catholic I know that speaks in tongue, I followed him to church once and I saw anointing descend on him it was a bitter sweet experience, Joshua Ayannaike and Okunleye Opeyemi, I don’t know how to classify them but the forms they filled for University of Lagos carried Christianity, they also helped my social and intellectual life a whole lot. How can I forget the Egbons in my class, Sir Shina and Sir Tee, Christians from different deep background but they still could take bullets for me. To all these people I mentioned and those I can’t because of space I’m so sorry this article is about religious crises.

If I trace the history of religious crises in Nigeria, this article might get unnecessarily long and will lose its flavours, but from 2009 till date, no one has known peace in the North East; Muslims, Christians, traditionalist or pagans alike, it has been a case of one mass grave after the other and the end is not yet in sight judging by the way BRIDGET was brutally murdered by religious and mindless brutes,

Today we live in a country where people kill citizens while proclaiming that this might have been cool 1500 years ago but killing another soul because your God orders you to do so betrays any logic or rationality.

I might not know too much about the Bible but I know for a fact the greatest commandment is to love your neighbour ironically this is the greatest commandment in Islam too, I also know for a fact that merely being devoted Christians or Muslims places providence on one’s shoulder and one is assured of a good after life but how do you explain to your God that he created the universe only to remain incapable, thus you had to step up to defend his honour and the only way to do so is to kill thy neighbour you have been instructed to love .. how do you define that ??

As religious discrimination hold sway, the divide and rule will continue to widen every day to our detriment as we might not get to turn the table from the plundering elite if we carry the prejudice of Christianity and Islam ahead of our humanity,  if we do not start living as a civilized people and accept that God is enough to fight his battles.

WAY FORWARD;
Instead of playing the religious card and using it as an avenue to harm our brothers and sisters thus incapacitating our able citizens we can channel the energy into religiously following the true tenets of our religions  for example the nation will change for the better when we religiously handle our businesses with the fear of an Almighty GOD, when the rulers, rule with the fear of a hereafter, etc. When we do that we will be able to live with peace and unity till then I’d like to borrow Ayo Sogunro’s fine words, “Everything in Nigeria will kill you even serving your God”.

Let’s help Nigeria grow again.
Stop RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE!
